| Steve was a great football player. He was in Fourth Regiment, not known for being hard, but he was. Coming from the South as an All State football player, he tried out for the big team, but was told he would sit on the bench (because of his size), so he came down and played with us guys on the 150 team, now Sprint. He was a line backer, and the only guy on the team I hated going up against one on one; he would take your head off! I, a center, only wanted to double team him. But off the grid iron, he was the best friend and most caring guy you could know. Steve is sorely missed; I will miss all the hard hits. |
