Be Thou At Peace

Pete's older brother Bert is my USMA 1960 classmate. One day in the late '70s when I was in the field at Grafenwoher as Battalion Commander of the 1st Bn, 46th Mechanized Infantry Regiment of the 1st Armored Division, Captain Pete introduced himself to me and identified himself as Bert's brother. We were at the firing point where my 4.2 inch mortar platoon was conducting live fire training. I think Pete may have been a controller of some sort. When I told him the aiming circle had always been a bit of a mystery to me, he offered to explain it to me. I took him up on it, and he taught me all about it for about an hour.
