| I met John in July 73 he was a squad leader in my Beast platoon. He was also my table commandant one week. He was tough. Imagine my surprise in 1981 when I was a troop commander in 1/1 Cavalry and walked into the HQ Building and met John. My immediate reaction was to "think" about bracing against the wall. In fact I actually moved out of his way. Then it dawned on me that we were both Captains he was new to the Squadron. We became fast friends and my wife and I were proxy godparents to one his children. I was shocked when I learned of his death and deeply saddened. He was a great friend and teacher. |
