Jeff Van Keuren was a wonderful man. I remember him fondly as a cadet always with a mission--usually the Fine Arts Forum--and that passion showed clearly in the results he achieved and the standard he set for the Academy's program. I roomed with him only one detail but it was enough to reveal his passion for the forum was second only to his love for Barb. After graduation our paths crossed only twice, both times in DC at AUSA conventions. Jeff was his usual happy self running a major booth and orchestrating the setup for his company. Though we spoke for only a few minutes, it felt like we had been separated only days, not years. He never mentioned the close brush with death he had already endured, he spoke only of his classmates, great memories, and of Barb and his kids. Now as I consider anew that I will never see him again, I realize the magnitude of the loss we all suffer. Rest in peace, my friend. You left the world better than you found it. |
