| I remember Steven Torres well because he was in Company F-3 and I in E-3. No doubt we saw each other in one or two academic classrooms, competed against each other in an intramural sport and entered Washington Hall about the same time each day to enjoy three hot meals in the Cadet Mess Hall. He apparently was reassigned to Company I-4 after the honor scandal, but we both walked the same stage on June 8, 1977 as newly commissioned second lieutenants. He graduated from the US Army Aviation School as a helicopter pilot about a year before I did and served his country in South Korea and Fort Ord. It's sad that the West Point Class of 1977 has lost another at a young age. May his family find peace and healing from this special fallen soldier, and may Steven's soul rest in peace. God Bless. |
