Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Al Fracker on February 1, 2005:

I'm hesitant about writing because I could never do justice to Sean...As military men know, a brother's love - unspoken; unwritten. Teammates on USMAPS soccer, Sean "Jeanne Hughes" (pronounced oog)was a fierce competitor with sly wit and a genuine concern for people. We were roommates Plebe year, and Sean did double duty cleaning up after his slovenly partners, Jack and Frack... Whether it was a homework assignment, a few hours off on a weekend, or Christmas leave, Sean developed detailed plans and executed them flawlessly... "We have 2 minutes and 45 seconds to eat this peanut butter sandwich and finish our beer, at which time...." A gentle soul with unparalleled personal courage... Sean will always be a young 20-something man - I last saw him in 1976 at the Army Navy game...and we tossed a football around the next day...sandy-haired, ever tanned, confident yet sheepish smile... We spoke at the end...and he used his energy to encourage me... goodbye friend. Frack
