Jody Fink was my room mate that rough first semester of firstie year. We'd all been cross levelled to different companies after returning from summer leave to a class shattered by the honor scandal. As we learned more and more about who said what, continuing allegations and on and on, the disgust almost overwhelmed me. Jody convinced me that the Army was bigger than USMA and we could go on to make a difference as officers. Jody was right, so very right. I last saw Jody in the Frankfurt International airport in the mid 80s, as I recall. We shared a beer and some stories and then moved out on our separate paths. After 9/11 I exchanged a few e-mail with Jody, sharing some thoughts. I lost contact after I deployed to Iraq and did not regain it when I got back. I still count Jody as a friend. Godspeed my brother. I will see you on the high ground someday. WELL DONE, be thou at peace. |
