Jody was my C.O. in the 532nd Signal Company in Germany. As an LT in Jody's company I had not only a commander but a mentor and a friend and every good lesson I learned about command I learned from him. I also learned that compassion and competitiveness were not mutually exclusive, especially on the baseball field where he was ferocious. I had lost touch with Jody in the intervening years and I could not be sadder for that. Our walk along this path together was cut way too short and I feel diminished for his passing.
