Like many, I grumbled about the reorg to new companies. Looking back, it gave me the chance to meet a bunch of stellar individuals I never would have been able to know. Among them was John Bone, "Boner". Quick to laugh, intense, driven, demanding of excellence, did I mention quick to laugh. Even today I can picture the smile. He found out I had experience in judo in high school and recruited me to the judo club/team. I personally think it was to give Mark Copperthite someone else to practice on. If you check the year book, you'll actually see a picture of what Copperthite did to me. John, if you only knew how many classmates over the years asked "Have you heard anything about John?". We knew you were following "Duty, Honor, Country" in the best way you knew. We just wished we could have stayed in contact better. I'll miss you bud. JO |
