New him on the Judo team - a leader and great athlete. Then we were Ranger buddies - he was not a cold weather guy and he always thanked me for keeping him from freezing to death in the mountains. We then went our own way until he came to Bragg for the SF course and jumpmaster school - I tried to help prep him for both. last real meeting was at CGSC/Leavenworth. We were not in the same group but sometimes the SF guys hung out together. At the tail end, it turned out we both got Group assignments which were not our first choices - so we switched - he went to 7th at Bragg and I went to 10th at Devens. Worked out for both. We were never great friends in the classic sense but I had a lot of respect for his drive and abilities. Sorry to see him go so early. I will always remember him... |
