Be Thou At Peace

| Dave and I roomed together at West Point for six semesters. He was a Rhodes Scholar-quality academic who was generous with his time and wit, and a real gem of a person and cadet. My favorite remembrance of Dave was Firstie year: after coming back one Sunday evening from his third or fourth Thursday evening-Sunday evening debate trip in a row, dragging four briefcases of debating material and complaining about how far behind he was in his studies, I asked him if he wanted to go to the movie that was starting in fifteen minutes. He cheerfully replied, "Sure!". My thoughts and prayers are with those he leaves behind. |
