| John was my sister company commander on the Korean DMZ. (The Bde Cdr brought us both in together; John chose Co A, 1-9 INF; I picked Co C) I never met a more competent commander nor a better leader. John was gifted with a powerful intellect, but he never rubbed in in anyone's face, and he helped all who asked. I will never forget his funny half-smile as he elliptically inquired about things I had screwed up (frequently) and offered solutions. He was always calm and resolute in the face of adversity, and magnanimous in victory. You will be missed, John Stratis, and you will be remembered and honored as a man among men. KUTF, Manchu! |
