Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John Shultis on October 2, 2015:

I'm saddened to learn of Ian's passing. This very evening, I was having dinner with some classmates, and one of his former company mates in the Zoo, Mark Brinkley and I were talking about Ian. At the time, neither of us had heard the news. Mark fondly described him as a brilliant man with a tremendous wit and a unique perspective on life that was surprising and insightful. Mark said that Ian was always resolutely himself, and he was comfortable in his own skin. I couldn't say it any better than that. After graduation, I spent some time with Ian in Berlin in May 1982; I next saw him at our fifteen year reunion during football season. He was always funny and encouraging; I lament that I did not know him better. I shall miss him. My prayers are with his family and close friends. Rest in peace, Classmate.
