Be Thou At Peace

Best of the Best
I knew an airborne ranger man: His name: John Richard Minahan. I knew him from our Fort Bragg time. He led a company of mine.
B, 27th Engineers Are paratroopers without fear. So infantry can join the fight, They jump from planes in dark of night.
And build air strips and bridges so The 18th Corps can come and go. They are the toughest ... brightest too To do the work they have to do.
When choosing leaders for this crew, No ordinary man will do. So, in my heart, I knew the man Could only be John Minahan.
And woe was me whenever I tried To slow him down ... shorten his stride. John would stay his course instead: "Damn the old man; full speed ahead."
And so he led with airborne zeal. Leader of men, the real deal. When I look back, I clearly see I taught him less than he taught me.
And here I stand again today As John once more points out the way. He is airborne all ways you can: Best of the Best, John Minahan.
