West Point, 1982

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jim Bowen on January 23, 2007:

Brian and I shared a room on Regimental Staff when we were firsties at West Point . . . actually, I guess Brian, JANE, and I shared a room (at least before taps). As a roommate, he had his flaws from time to time, but Jane made up for them with Triscuits and leftover desserts. What many may not know is that behind his easygoing nature he was a fierce competitor in racquetball and, unlike many of us who did just enough academic work to avoid getting slugged, Brian really tried to do his best in his classes -- even the ones he didn't care about.

Brian was truly a devoted husband and father, as well as a great doctor and soldier. Brian devoted his entire life to serving others, and in the end gave it in the service of the nation and our future generations not even yet born. We all should try to live up to half of the example Brian set for us.
