Be Thou At Peace

Posted by COL Paul Calbos, Kathy, Cadet Nick (USMA '09), and Christa Calbos on January 24, 2007:

God bless him??did not know Brian well at school, but over the years our paths crossed in significant ways (for me) several times: at Ft Bragg in the early 90?s he was in charge of the Ortho Med team that put my ankle and knee back together and got me back on the road to quick recovery and a return to the ABN Infantry (I remember how secure it made me feel to have a classmate looking out for me); and he was the Doc ? also at Bragg ? that put my son's finger back together after he chewed it up in a bicycle wheel. I know he was a great Doc who had a large reputation in both the military and civilian Ortho worlds; he could have been out of the Army making a million bucks I am sure, but chose to continue to serve??..and always at the forward edge; he was the Ranger BN Doc who parachuted into Panama with the 75th Ranger Regt, and did time as the 82nd ABN Div surgeon, JSOC Surgeon, and of course went back to West Point to serve cadets and the Army families there as the Keller Army Hospital commander. Brian was quiet, humble, extremely smart, and a wonderfully decent human being???very sad for our loss. Jane and Wyatt, our sympathies and hearts are with you during this difficult time. May his memory be eternal.

Paul, Kathy, Nick, and Christina Calbos
