Be Thou At Peace

Posted by SGM Pamela A. Neal, MNF-I Chaplain SGM on January 25, 2007:

Dear Mrs. Jane Allgood and Family of COL Allgood:

COL Allgood was the epitome of a Sergeants Major, Colonel. Colonel's and senior officers in the armed forces rely strongly on their E9 to get the mission accomplished and to carry out directives that they have established. The ironic part is E9s rely heavily on the Colonel or senior officer to give sound advice and competent direction in order to effectively do their job. COL Allgood surpassed the norm.

COL Allgood was highly admired among senior noncommissioned officers. He was warm, smart, and innovative and possessed a strong appreciation for enlisted service members. COL Allgood knew the value of enlisted service members. He welcomed their input and advice and often incorporated their views in his decision making. I was honored to know him. I appreciated his leadership.

The Chaplain and Medical Corps work together very closely. Over the years we have exchanged war stories, and similar complications and successes in completing our missions. Part of that is relying on one another as experts in our fields. There was no doubt that COL Allgood was the resident expert in his field, and he respected the expertise of his colleagues. COL Allgood was the type of Soldier that made you feel sure about yourself and your mission. He valued his contribution to the mission and fulfilled his duties with honor and integrity. As a senior noncommissioned officer, I consider it an honor to have served with an officer of his caliber. He will be held to the highest esteem by all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Very Respectfully,

SGM Pamela A. Neal
