Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Mark Tillman on May 22, 2003:

I am shocked to learn of this most tragic news. I knew Dom as a fellow A3er from reorgy week through graduation. More focused on excellence than most of us, Dom quietly excelled in darn near everything. Best of all, unlike me, he seemed to stay out of trouble!

Dom was inbound to command the 19th Maintenance BN (Fort Sill) the same summer I was on my way out of the 3d Armored Corps Artillery where I, too, commanded a BN. Although we did not overlap at Fort Sill, I have since dreamt of the support I could have gotten from a classmate and company mate whose lone BN supported our entire Corps Artillery--no easy task (13 Tactical Artillery BNs). I am sure Dom did an incredible job as his reputation preceded him to Fort Sill. We all eagerly awaited the whiz-kid who was known widely in maintenance circles as one who could fix it all! Indeed, our Army has lost a great officer. We have lost a great classmate.
