"Blind Bob" was a classmate and companymate at West Point. He was the most laid-back guy you'd ever meet, & I never saw him ruffled -- he was usually just smiling or chuckling at the nonsense of cadet life. And underneath his caveman brow was a virtual genius brain -- I never would have made it through a couple of engineering classes without his enormous help. In our group projects, he did the hard work; I did the typing. At our 20th reunion at West Point, he was sorely missed. Everyone from Company D-2 who was present told a story about "The Beastmaster," and then we toasted him & drank to his memory. Hope to bring his wife Jan to the 25th -- just so she can feel the love we all had for that ugly old rugger. |
