Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Theresa McCrackine on July 8, 2008:

MAJ Goodridge was my S3 when we were with 4-3 ADA in Kitzingen, Germany. While I had thought I had some good S3's previously, MAJ Goodridge was the best. This was a man that took care of his soldiers and enjoyed teaching the young officers and NCO's under his direction. He never let people down when they needed assistance, he never let people "flounder" even though they still had some growing pains to endure, yet he also never held a grudge either. If someone messed up, he didn't keep reminding them.

My last encounter with MAJ Goodridge was right before he left for the weekend. He and I had stayed late doing the USR report and he even apologized to me for having questions. When he was heading down the hall to the CDR's office, I remember feeling as if that was the last time I'd see him yet I dismissed that feeling. I also remember his excitement of that ski trip. He was really looking forward to it.

It was such a tragic loss of MAJ Goodridge and his family. I remember the shock our entire unit felt, especially our S3 shop. We lost a good mentor and soldier that day.

MAJ Goodridge... you and your family continue to be in my prayers. Rest in peace.
