Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Alex Puig on January 4, 2012:

John,

The news of your untimely passing has been an extreme shock to those of us who were lucky enough to have known you. I still remember the very first time I met you at your parent's home on Colonels Row...you came walking into the kitchen with the most amazing and friendly smile and when we were introduced (I was a plebe, you were a cow) you shook my hand and simply said 'Hi, I'm John..it's a pleasure to meet you'. That was the essence of who you were...an amazing human being who had the ability to connect with everyone around you. I always admired your ability to put people at ease...you always had a special, magnetic presence.

Your family took me in during my four years at USMA and treated me like a son, therefore, I have always felt like you were a brother to me even though we only saw each other off and on over the years. I will sorely miss you as will everyone else who had the privilege to have known you. Rest in peace brother.
