Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Janice (Drinkwine) Brewer on September 5, 2003:
Oh Lawrence, the day you were born, we knew that the "Crown Prince" had arrived. Your Father and Mother (Paul & Jeannie Drinkwine) we so proud along with Granny and Grandpa Zeilinski, Grandma Drinkwine and of course me, your only Aunt. You grew up so fast and always had an answer for everything and were usually correct. You were very competative and a wonderful winner...and everyone loves a winner. You could laugh quickly and you knew how to have fun. You always loved the water, whether it was from the sky or the ocean. You loved the monsoons in Arizona when visiting and you could sail from day break to dawn. I remember you rowing around Marina Del Rey at such a young age. Out and about while your family was working the the "Big Sail". Later entering and winning so many sailing events in the Caribbean and the United States. Then off you went to West Point. I tell you, I was so proud. I just told everyone that you had to be the smartest, best looking cadet there. Certainly, many agreed with me. Graduation was a dream. Staying at Thayer House, keeping dry from all the rain, and all the celebration that followed. Such a proud family. Then off you went in your little Mustang. Finally a holiday! Good for you. Then your in Texas. Found the girl of your dreams. Janice, she was the "real one". You loved her and made plans and shared a dream with her. She was good for you and I know made life wonderful for you. Took her to the Islands and played at life for awhile then moved to Florida, with a house on the ocean with a dock. Didn't get better than that!
Lawerence, you were so young and bright. A good husband and a super son. A great nephew and just beginning life. Why? God needed you and he only gives us children for a little while to care for them and then he calls them home. I think of you daily and I can see you in your shorts, beer in hand, laughing and working on the "Big Sail" in the heavens. I miss you.
