Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Laurie Holden on December 17, 2005:

I never met Rob Olson but that does not mean that I do not think about him at least once a year. Dr. Holly Olson was a big part of my life for 9 months. I was so lucky to have her as my doctor for the pregnancy and birth of my daughter, Katrin, who was born at Ft. Leavenworth exactly six years ago today. I can imagine that so many patients come into and out of a doctor?s life, which must be especially true with Army doctors, that it is hard to remember them all. For a patient though, having an outstanding doctor, especially during the important time of having a child, is something that you do not ever forget. She did something most doctors would not do, she actually came in when she was not on call and gave up what I now know was a precious Friday night she could have spent with her family. She got me through a rough delivery beautifully. So, every year at this time or when I look at Katrin?s baby pictures with Holly holding her, I think about Holly, her children and the loss of a wonderful husband, father and solider. My husband was not a West Pointer, but I recently found this site since we have friends whose daughter was in the 2003 class and was killed in Afghanistan. I have lost touch with Dr. Olson since our Army paths have not crossed again. I am not even sure that she is still in the Army, but I pray that she is doing well. I also pray that all the people who knew and loved Rob find comfort the fact that he is still remembered by someone like me who never had the pleasure of meeting him.
