Timothy M. White

West Point, 1987

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John Hurst on June 29, 2000:

I never have the words to express my thoughts or feelings during these
times of sorrow. I checked my email this Monday morning and knew I would be receiving Tim's obituary and a picture that morning from Bob Lockett '86. Bob and I spoke a few times last week and let me know that he would send the information the next morning. Bob lives near Paula and Tim and has been very gracious in helping the White's over the past few months. It was great to open the picture and see Tim as I will always remember him. A broad friendly smile. Always caring. Always a winner.

I am moved by the outpouring of support for the Whites over the past few months. I really am humbled to be a part of a bigger family called the Class of 1987. As for Tim, I will leave the words to someone else ...

And when our work is done,
Our course on earth is run,
May it be said, "Well done;
Be thou at peace."
E'er may that line of gray
Increase from day to day
Live, serve, and die, we pray,
West Point, for thee.

Well done, Tim. Be thou at peace.

John Hurst
President, USMA '87
