Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Patty Collins on March 2, 2009:

Dear Jeanne, I didn't know you all that well, really. But you were a good friend to so many of my friends. I met you while you were at CGSC and I was at CAS3. You taught my good girlfriend Kris Kramarich to swim (no small feat). It was a few weeks before the Ft Leavenworth Triathlon. You received a gift from all the women you taught to swim. I remember thinking what a wonderful gift you gave to these women, it's never to late to learn something new.

I knew you were selected for Bn Cmd because I worked with CSM Chet Grelock before he went on to be part of your team. I remember when he asked if I knew you (why guys think every Signal woman knows every other Signal woman...but I think we do) I remember telling him. I don't know her well, but only know really wonderful things about her.

I remember our brief encounters at the pool. I looked up to you. Not only could you swim like a beautiful porpoise, but you had a wonderful family and were a talented officer. We can all only hope to burn our candle as bright as you. Your candle may have extingushed but it burns forevr in the lives of those you touched. I'll miss you Jeanne
