Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Brig. Gen. Ramon M. Ong (Ret) on March 6, 2009:

I received the sad news from my friend Bob Magruder '64, via the "Friends of Army Swimming" grapevine. So I tried to learn more about this LTC Jeanne Britanisky Hutchison.

Cadet Jeanne Britanisky is listed as one of the Top 10 swimmers in the Women's 100-Yard Backstroke and 200-Yard Backstroke events. Her Academy Record in the 100-Yard Backstroke was set in 1985 and remained as the fastest time for 5 years until it was finally broken in 1990. This is an impressive performance for anyone!

I have never met Jeanne -- but I know I will someday. Until then, my only words to her are, "Well done! Be thou at peace!"
