Be Thou At Peace

Posted by William Bijesse on May 15, 2000:

I had the honor of working with Marty as an honor board president and the greater priviledge of calling him a friend. There were many great times we shared our first two years: plebe year PE courses (only Marty could make wrestling and gymnastics seem like fun)and during summer training at Camp Buckner. Our cow and firstie years were only cause for more admiration for Marty. His professionalism and ability to keep a sense of humor and to keep life in perspective were great assets in the leadership he provided to the Honor Committee.

On graduation day there were only two classmates that I absolutely had to say goodbye to before heading off with my family to celebrate, I thank God I found Marty at Macarthur statue to thank him for his friendship, leadership, and for always bringing a smile to my face. I wish I had been able to say goodbye in person at your funeral, Marty, but know that your kindness and friendship will always live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know you.
