Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Anthony DeToto on July 4, 2002:

Frank and I served together in the 82nd Engineers. We roomed together briefly and drank together a lot in Europe.

I will never forget Crazy Frank for:

playing the Saturday Night Live video tapes of Mike Meyer (as Deter) on Sprockets. Frank made sure that to invite our German friends.

Skiing entirely too fast and causing create one of the longest and most horrific yard sales (skis, gloves, poles, everywhere- almost 300 meters from the first article of clothing to the last) in the history of the Austrian Alps.

Driving 90 miles an hour on ice in his BMW 528- and completing a non-voluntary 360 degree turn without touching a guard rail- then looking over at me and saying "how 'bout that; don't try that at home".

Perfecting the cross over / reverse grip around the head with the Mass of Bier tradition everytime we were at the Hofbrau House.

The Bridge Jump. He stripped, climbed over the railing on the bridge crossing the Meine river in his bikini briefs...then he had second thoughts...thinking that it would be less painful to jump then ridicule..he jumped the 70 feet into a belly flop

Being the smallest guy on our rugby team, the biggest hitter and one of the best 3rd half players.

Borrowing the 100 lb "Word of the Day Board" with me from Calimaros in downtown Bamberg. Running home with it with me tucked under our arms past a Polezi as if it were part of our evening routine.

Dancing on the tables at the Winefest in Wurzburg when Norway scored against Germany (Deter was not happy).

Always having time for his friends, tea, and choclate fingers.

Frank we love you brother and know you are in a better place tipping one back to each of us and flipping your hair back as you do it. Be thou at peace my brother.
