Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Lou Mayo on July 23, 2008:

I was fortunate enough to be your roommate, where you introduced me to The Smyths and the lyric: "I just might die with a smile on my face, after all", a lyric I used in many a tough situation over the years -- my first jump, my first combat patrol, and even when the artillery shells were landing around me.

You taught me to smile in the face of adversity, but it is difficult to do so right now. However, the memories of you far outweigh the saddness of your passing. Your humor and smiles were ever present, regardless of the situation. I recall your impromptu party in the pouring down rain on the last row, left side of our graduation ceremony.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. "There is a light, and it never goes out"
