Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Stephen Hudson on January 17, 2021:

So, wow.

I am writing this because I was Facebook messaging with Meeker and Rasins and your passing came up in the message.
They were mentioning you and missing you.
I asked how you had passed and it was unknown so I did a search and found this site.

I read your daughter Alexis' message.
Simply put- it hit me hard. So much love and fond memories.
Missing you so much after the years.

So cool how she equates your suffering with her victories.
As a father of a 14 year old daughter it reaffirms that our love for our kids has such a huge impact. Even when we fail in personal situations, that love and, more importantly how we convey that love, MATTERS.

I emailed and told your daughter Alexis the story that to me, as a young SGT who served with you in desert storm, has stuck with me forever:
You had a bad case of "montezumas revenge" in the big sand box during Desert Storm - horrible and I know you were miserable. But, even though you were sick and dehydrated , I fondly remember you occasionally sticking your head out of your tent and giving us all that wry smile and a wise ass comment. Made us all realize that no matter how bad it got it could be worse. And that you were one tough cat.

Sooooo...I know this is late in the game but I felt compelled to write something on here.

My mother suffered from addiction and passed from complications.
It's so cool to know that your love for your family has led to such an awesome outcome
God is so good.
Rest easy sir...
