Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Deacon Chip Jones on October 16, 2010:

One of the wonderful things about technology is that you can find almost anyone, if you're patient enough. One of the terrible things is that you find out pretty shocking things too suddenly. I had no idea James was gone.

I commanded exactly one unit in my time in the Army: Service Battery, 2d Battalion, 82d, Field Artillery, the Red Dragons of Friedberg. Anyone who served with us knows the suck that that command was for me; the SOLE bright spot was my Executive Officer, James Frezell, LT "Freeze".

James was almost always upbeat and laughing; if he wasn't grinning, ya knew that the crap had really hit the fan. He persevered through some bitter times, including a deployment with another commanding officer; through it all, James did his duty to his soldiers and to his unit.

West Point produces some great men and women in uniform. Among those great men and women, James Frezell stood out.

Be thou at peace, XO.
