Be Thou At Peace

William was my dad and my best friend. The date he died was August 30th, not July. My dad was the only person who I ever knew for a fact believed in me and loved me. He had a way of making sure you knew how deeply he cared for you. He loved his country, good food, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved family. He loved working his ass off. He loved being generous to people. He loved going on long walks and spending time in nature. My dad always had a vision of a better world- a better tomorrow. He saw the best in people. He took me with him to tour West Point Academy just a few years ago, even though he knew it wasn't going to be my path. He loved it there. I miss him every day. He didn't get nearly as much time on this earth as he deserved, but I know that he made every day count, which is more than I think a lot of people can say. He was the kindest person I've ever met. |
