Be Thou At Peace

Posted by James R. Rice on April 15, 2006:

Sadly, I learned just last evening of the death of my friend, John Lewis. We served together in Korea with the 503rd and it was my great honor and privilege to know him. John was a superb and dedicated company commander and was a man we could all count on regardless of how tough the mission was.

John, your Soldiers were tough as iron and rock solid...a testament to you. You always showed everyone that great smile, no matter what the conditions were. Your enemies cowered in your presence and you gave your men the confidence and the will to win.

Prepare a secure patrol base for the rest of us and we will link up in the future on the high ground. You were and are a great Infantryman, Soldier, and friend.

Most humbly and respectfully,

Jim Rice
