Elissa Marie Bergevin

West Point, 1990

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Gabriella Pacheco Jack on February 2, 2013:

Twenty years, and still one of the brightest stars I ever met.

Fearlessness is what I remember, and the nonchalant "Why not?" Whatever we were doing, Elissa always knew it could be done, it could be accomplished, success was not far off and if it was...why not just try?

Patience and kindness, that's how she motivated, with encouragement at each turn.

Joyfulness. Can't quite explain how she tackled each day, she just seemed to enjoy whatever it was she was doing, even when I knew she was upset about something. Elissa refused to accept the power of any trouble.

Determination. Elissa was not ostentatious about her hard work, or how she succeeded at things, she was not arrogant about her beauty (which was striking) or her charm (which put everyone at ease).

Elissa was a leader not in life, but in living. And while I know, people think we only speak well of those who have passed, I have not exaggerated a single word or memory.
