Be Thou At Peace

What a cadet!! This man clearly stood out from all the rest. I was his squad leader his first year at West Point and upon recognition we became great freinds. I remember just before my graduation, we were playing catch on the plain. I asked him to throw me a fast ball to see what it was like to be in the big league's. He obliged and hummed one into my mit. Amazingly, I caught it. He replied, that was about 1/3d of my real heat, do you want more? I responded, "that's enough," and finished our game with a nice friendly catch. What an arm!! It was great to find out he played with the Orioles, but obviously he had a sense of duty instilled on him at the Academy to serve his country. I haven't spoken with him since my marriage at the Cadet Chapel in 1992, but I have never forgotten him. Thank You for protecting my family! Be thou at peace! I will never forget you!
