Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Chris Westhoff (Lil Bobby) on December 23, 2003:

I would like to take a few lines and remember my first platoon leader at fort stewart ga.2Lt.Byers at the time was the first person to greet me at ft stewart after my graduation from basic. After being assigned a company i found out that Lt.Byers was going to be my platoon leader with 3-69 armor 2nd platoon.Once i got situated about 2 weeks later, now 1Lt.Byers asked me to become his driver on tank D21
myself,1Lt.Byers,SSG Beardsley and PFC Moore were the crew that would eventually be sent overseas together in 1998.I later came into some personal problems in my life and Lt.Byers was the person i felt most comfortable talkin too..not only because he was my platoon leader but also because he was my friend, after i got out of the army i lost touch with almost everyone from the army...i was recently going through web sites and came across a people magazine which featured the soldiers who have passed since the begining of the war..i searched through all 473 of them and I was totally shocked when i saw the picture of my former platoon leader, but i know how much he loved god and people for that matter, i know he will be in a better place...im not sure if his wife (kim) will read this,, but if you ever need to talk heres my number...636-586-9831... thank you god for Cpt.Joshua T. Byers, and giving me a chance to know him
Your freind here and in heaven
Chris Westhoff (LIL BOBBY)
