Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Ryan Honl on February 6, 2004:
When I heard of Josh's death, I looked through my west point pictures and pulled out a picture of Josh and I working on a system's engineering project together. I cherish that picture and all the memories of being around him at retreats and other church activities. Josh was one of the finest examples of christian humility I have ever known. I particularly remember one spring when a bunch of us worked on a house in south carolina for habitat for humanity. Josh's parents let us stay at his house for a night. I will never forget that.
It is easy to say that I was Josh's friend and am confident that he would have claimed me as one as well. But what is strangest about it was that we didn't hang out lot, but when we did, it was like hanging out with someone you had grown up with. I know that I am one of a countless number of people in this world who would readily claim to be a friend of Josh Byers and yet only spent a limited amount of time with him.
Josh was a wonderful, friendly, forgiving, loving human being - a fine example of what it means to be christlike.
See you soon buddy!!!!
