I have just learned of the passing of Captain Byers, and I cannot express the loss I feel at the death of what seemed to me as a good man. I didn't know him personally, but I know graduates of West Point personally and I hope to be a Cadet myself someday. To his family and friends, please know that I am praying for you, and I wish you well. To his classmates and fellow members of the Long Gray Line, hooah, you are respected and admired greatly for putting up with four years at the Point. To all Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines, hooah for your sacrifices and dedication to our country and what she stands for. You continue to make us proud. And finally, I'd like to share a quote which all of those who have been through Beast should know: "From the Far East I send you one thought, one sole idea- written in red on every beachhead from Australia to Toyko- there is no substitute for victory." Again, my deepest sympathy to Captain Byer's family, you are in my prayers. Brittany |
