Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jim Adams on March 17, 2006:

I only found this site recently in researching our class' upcoming ten year reunion. Though Josh and I hardly knew each other at the Academy, we worked and played together in the 3ACR in '02-'03. He was the A/S3, and I was S2 throughout that time, and I came to know him very well. He was a devout, upright, and hysterical guy. We deployed to Iraq together, and I redeployed just as he took command of Fox Trp. I learned of his death during my transition leave in NJ, and it was definitely the hardest day of my life.

Josh was a rare find. He was brilliant, yet spiritual; motivated, yet fun; professional, yet humorous. I miss discussing religion, cavalry tactics, and Wesley Willis with him every day. I miss his stories of hearing mysterious voices from his speakers with his wife, Kim. I miss his musings on being the big brother to a couple of rock stars. I miss everything about Josh, because he just made that kind of impression on a person.

I know that he was very excited about troop command, and had been working toward it for some time. But far more importantly, I know that he was in close communion with our Lord, and more than prepared to meet and love Him. I look forward someday to more talks with Josh about the funniest Mel Brooks' ever.
