Be Thou At Peace
Posted by CPT Ashlie I. Christian on August 25, 2007:
CPT Corry Tyler is the most amazing officer I've ever had the pleasure of working with, I am honored that he selected me to be his XO and work with him. From the day he took command of Darkhorse Troop the Troop has done nothing but improve and grow. We have all become better officers, soldiers, and leaders from working with him. I have learned more in the last few months working with Corry than the last few years.
Corry loved his job, he was always motivated and excited about the training. He came to our Troop after being the Brigade Aviation Officer for 3-2 SBCT. We used to tease him all the time and remind him that he wasn't with the infantry anymore, that we were aviation and more relaxed.
Darkhorse Troop is the only UH-60 Troop in a Squadron of OH-58s and we were constantly treated as "red-headed stepchildren." That all changed when he took command. Our anti-cav sentiment was quickly dispelled as he pointed out that the Cavalry was founded on the UH platform with the UH-1 so essentially we were the "Cav Daddy." His vision was for us to be "Bold, Audacious Cavalry Troopers" who were "a TEAM characterized by disciplined initiative, commitment to excellence, and dedication to accomplishing the mission." He was a shining example of all those things which he wanted us to be. I only hope that we fulfilled his expectations.
Corry you will be deeply missed. Kathy, Emily, Jacob, and Lucas words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. My deepest sympathy goes out to you at this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
