Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Jack Perry, Jr. on March 24, 2010:

I was one of Rebeccas former Commanders. I remember meeting Rebecca one cold day in Korea when she had just returned from a well deserved R&R. She appeared shy and a little introverted upon first meeting. I had only been in command for two days when we met. I learned a lot from Rebecca during my tour, I learned (again) that everyone has a story in life. I learned that even the shyest person has a giant within them. I learned (again) that no matter how old or how young you are you can learn from anyone. Rebecca had a knack and a gift of seeing everything from a fresh and sometimes raw point of view which I respected greatly. I recall a time during a Dinning In when sweet shy Rebecca walked on to the stage sat behind the keys of concert piano and played to a standing ovation culminating with her peers gathering around her to show support and camaraderie, it was awesome! Over the years Rebecca and I stayed in touch after I retired.
I miss her.
