MAJ K, thank you for being my Tactical Officer in the summer of 2010 for my leadership detail. Thank you for being the example we needed as developing leaders: always positive, frank, and full of insightful advice. Thank you for rescuing us when I messed up. I got our entire company of New Cadets lost on a ruck march and we ended up in 6-foot tall grass in a deep ravine. Thank you for finding us, tying a rope around your waist, and rappelling down the incline to physically pull all 130 of us up to safety. I blamed myself for the whole ordeal but you somehow gave me positive feedback. You helped me see what I could learn from the mistake instead of making me feel worse, a lesson in leadership I'll never forget. Thank you for remaining invested in every single cadet that you ever mentored. You managed to influence at least five classes of cadets and none of us will ever forget you because you never forgot about any of us. Not many can leave this earth and leave behind such a legacy, but you have influenced a generation of young officers who will now strive to live up to your example every single day.
