Thomas Kennedy

West Point, 2000

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by David A. Flatray SFC, USA (Ret) on March 27, 2017:

Major [or, Captain as I knew him] Kennedy, was truly admired by his Battery. He commanded A Battery, 5th Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery (HIMARS), and I was his Battery Operations Sergeant. At all times, he conducted himself as an Officer and a Gentleman. He was respectful, approachable, knowledgeable, and forever in high spirits. His positive attitude and smile was infectious, and it drew loyalty and admiration.

I have had many Battery Commanders throughout my career, but none left such a mark on me Captain Kennedy. As we progress through our careers, we take traits from those leaders we most admire, and put those traits into our toolbox. We then use those tools as we work to better ourselves as leaders. Captain Kennedy gave me the tool of a warm and positive personality as the greatest influencer.

I will always remember the honest appreciation he openly showed to the Soldiers of A Battery "Ghostriders", and I will always remember him.

Negative contact. Ghostrider 3-0 November, out.
