Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Andrew Wilson-Rutan on January 20, 2015:

Greg was the first person I met at West Point (other than the Cadet in the Red Sash and First Sergeant.) I was the first one in our assigned room and was there wondering aimlessly for about 20 minutes (too scared to touch anything) just waiting for someone to come tell me what to next. Then, along comes Greg . . . just as nervous as I.

We were roommates during Beast. As everybody knows, those first few weeks are the toughest.

I can remember the nights of staying up late while I'd shine his shoes and he'd shine the brass on my service caps. He was definitely a rock during PT and could do a million more pushups than I, but I could run faster :)

Greg and I hadn't communicated in several years, but he was hard to miss on TV and magazine covers.

I've got nothing but great memories from Greg at school. His service to the nation and inspiration he offered to thousands of others all over the world is rare.

My prayers and thoughts with the Plitt Family.

Well Done
