Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Joe Minor on October 22, 2003:

I had the opportunity to get to know Dave fairly well while we spent a semester away from West Point at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He was always up beat and positive, even when we were caching a bus at 0500 to the flight line. I?ll always remember Dave standing in front of an F-15 at USAFA where he had just written ?Who?s Your Daddy?? in huge letters across the fuselage, along with the more traditional ?Go Army, Beat Air Force.? I also remember that the USAFA Commandant told us that we needed to clean the pro Army ?graffiti? off of the planes. Dave said that they were the Air Force?s planes and they should clean them themselves if they didn?t want them to say ?Go Army.? We didn?t clean them and received some demerits and hours for our refusal. But I?m sure that Dave enjoyed every hour he received knowing that he wasn?t intimidated by an Air Force General. I guess he remembered that even as a plebe he outranked Air Force Generals.

Dave was a great man; he influenced everyone he met and has left many positive memories behind. His passing is a true loss to the Army and everyone who knew him. Well Done Dave?
