Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dian Welle on October 24, 2003:

Words can not express the sorrow and the sympathy I feel as I write this. God bless you all at this time. My heart aches for you. I wish I could wax poetic, I wish I had words to fill the hole in your hearts, and all I can do is tell you how sorry I am. How can I thank you for the sacrifice your son made for me and for this country? This was your child, and his sacrifice is unthinkable, and of no consolation to you, and yet, it is because of him, and others like him, that we can live the lives we do in this country. Still, there is no comfort in that for you, I am sure.

I go to West Point at least once each year. I will find the resting place of your son every time I go. I will leave flowers for him. I will pray for him and you. I will never forget him and those who gave their lives before him in this terrible war.
