Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Alejandro M. Nunez on February 4, 2005:

Everyone says: "Joe was one of the 'Good Guys'"! It was true. If one could hope for a true friend, he was it. We went through the little SERE(survival, evation, resistance, escape) training in Flight School together, and he was the type of guy that got up in front of his peers and led them with undying motivation, even after admitting those were the worst 5 days he had ever experienced. I remember the day we chose our aircraft. He had first choice. He could have chosen from anything in the Army's inventory, including the C-12 fixed wing. Out in the hallway, he flipped a coin to choose between the Apache Longbow and the Fixed Wing slot. He chose the Longbow, but not so much due to the coin toss, rather he was a warrior at heart! My condolences to the Lusk family and all his loved ones.
