Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Mike Rosol on May 2, 2008:

During Plebe and Yearling year in H1, I got to know Drew as one of those few prior service guys who “squared away” the rest of us. He was driven, hard charging, and he always seemed to get everything right.

During STAP, I got to know Drew the Cadet First Sergeant and disciplinarian. Drew internalized every regulation and standard, and he was on a mission to make sure that all of the rest of us did the same. We did not always see eye to eye, but in the end, I always had to admit that he was right and I was wrong.

During the Career Course at Fort Knox, I got to know Drew “Pears-O” Pearson, the consummate professional. More importantly, I got to know Drew the family man, who wanted to spend every hour he could between deployments with the people he loved and cared for the most.

Through it all, Drew was a great man of integrity, drive, and commitment. Truly great men are rare. I know there is probably little solace that any of our words can offer to the Pearson family right now, but I hope that one day, you will be able to take some comfort in reflecting on the great man that Drew was. Well done. Be thou at peace.
