Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Paul Maupin on February 11, 2014:

Mark was my first college roommate at New Mexico Military Institute. Like others, I can only echo that Mark was one of the nicest, most genuine, people I have ever met. He was just so good and selfless in so many ways. One morning, we both woke up early to shine our brass and I had my lamp on which apparently was not allowed. We both got "stuck" which meant a Saturday of marching even though it was my fault. I complained to my football coach and he got me out of marching but not Mark. I felt so bad but Mark never held it against me. He just didn't seem to have an ounce of selfishness in him. I will always remember the kindness of Mark and pray for continued peace and comfort for his wife and family. Mark truly makes me want to be a better person. Thank you, Mark, for a life well lived.
