| It took me a long time to feel like I was ready to express my thoughts about Drew's passing. I will be leaving the Washington area so I think its time to bring those thoughts forward. First, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to his wife, family, and friends. It was obvious to me how much his passing was felt by everyone that was in attendance at the memorial ceremony. I like to think that you always keep a piece of whomever you meet with you always. I will remember Drew for his stark conviction to his family, friends, and the soldiers with which he served. We spoke several times about how much he loved being with "his guys". He didn't want to loose that connection with the soldiers when moving up in rank warranted it. I think he passed doing what he loved and embodying the way he lived his life...taking care of others. I am so very sorry for your loss. You and Drew will be forever in my prayers. |
